Organs and other parts of the nervous system

All of the organs and other parts in the nervous system serve a very important purpose (especially the brain).   I say especially the brain, because without it you couldn't think.  And to breath you need to be able to think.  The brain also receives signals from the spinal cord (a long snake-like bundle of nerves connected to your brain) so it knows how to react to whatever is happening.  The average brain weighs about five pounds.

The spinal cord, as you already know, is a long snake-like bundle of nerves connected to the brain.  It's purpose is to receive signals sent by nerves throughout the body, and send them to the brain.  Breaking your spinal cord causes you to get parellized, meaning you can't move your body.  Sometimes the spinal cord doesn't have to send a signal to your your brain in order for you to react.  For example if you touch something hot, your nerves send a signal straight to your spinal cord, which makes you pull your hand back as a reflex.  Your nerves, AKA receptors, are located almost everywhere in your body.  one of the only places where you don't have many nerves is your elbow.

How your nervous system works.

Your nervous system has a big impact on your body. It is a system that controls your memory, learning, thought, tasting, hearing, moving, laughing, walking, running, writing, and reacting to something. An example would be when somebody comes up behind you and taps you on your shoulder and you look back to see what it was, that's your nervous system sending a signal to your brain to react. If you didn't have your nervous system then you couldn't be able to react to when somebody or something taps you or hits you or whatever.
If you were wondering what your nervous system is made up from, it's made up of nerves, muscles, brain impulses, and your spinal cord. All together that makes up your nervous system.

Health Issues Of The Nervous System

First, lets start with the things that your nervous system does for your body. It makes you react to things. The nervous system is actually really one of the most important systems, because without it, you couldn't move, you can't feel, and you can't control yourself. That's why it's really important to keep your nervous system functioning properly. If you didn't have your nervous system, then you would have yourself a pretty big problem on your hands.
You know when you go to the doctor, and he or she taps your leg with a hammer? Then your leg automatically kicks up? When your doctor does that, he is checking your nervous system. This helps to make sure that your nervous system is working the way that it should.
If you get paralyzed, it is something that that effects the way that your nervous system works. If you get paralyzed in only one part of your body, only that particular can't move. You also can't control the part of your body that is paralyzed. If you do get paralyzed, it will change your way of life very drasticly. Paralyzed people live a very tough life.
As for keeping your nervous system healthy, the best thing that you could possibly do, is give your  body some rest.
